Journey to Middle Fork

To me there isn't anything much more beautiful than a walk in the woods. It calms and centers me. I feel like I can breathe. I love the freedom of open spaces; Kit, let me be even more specific, I love tree-filled open spaces. When the trees allow me to catch glimpses of the sky, I feel enveloped and safe. The sweeping, open prairie, truth be told, still freaks me out a bit. I just feel so exposed OR should I say, over-exposed. But, I digress...My soul leaps when I see Kai enjoying the same thing!

Kai can always be counted on to find a berry or two on any journey!

He also inherited my eagle-eyes for noticing small things while walking, like this snail. We all had a wonderful time crouching down to watch it.

My sweetie...who found us a lovely spot near the water to play!

Norah and Kai working on their fort near the water.

The finished product complete with a moat running around it.

Next time we journey to Middle Fork Forest Preserve, we are going to take our swim suits and enjoy the swimming pond! I can hardly wait (and neither can Norah who would have skinny dipped on this trip)!
