We've been crazy crafters and artists lately. Our fingers are flying. Kai has been drawing up a storm. Cutting out shapes. Drawing on said shapes. Taping said shapes together. Wow. Mainly, it's pirate ships. Little pirate mateys or Star Wars characters in the throughs of battle -- with light sabers drawn or as Kai says "light savers."
Norah discovered quite by accident that she could draw circles on the bathtub. The next day, she started drawing faces. Too cute. She's moved on to faces she says are animals on safari -- giraffes, hippos, rhinos...sometimes I make an appearance and then am transformed into one animal or another. It's amazing how fast they move from one step to the next in their artistic development.
Kai helped me sew some valentine's day inspired decorations for the windows on a day when we just needed a little more red in our lives to counteract the gray in the sky. I couldn't believe he had the patience to learn blanket stitch.
We were also inspired by a wonderful and crafty friend to transform some shirts with freezer paper stencils. So fun, addictive and amazingly easy - unless you want to do peace signs on a tie-dyed t-shirt for your niece's birthday; Kit is downstairs now painting peace signs on them instead. Thank goodness for an artistic husband!
We've dusted off the sewing machine again as well...pictures to come of those projects. Kai is just thrilled to see and hear the whir of the needle moving through the fabric and so am I.

i so gotta do some of those freezer paper stencils!
