Norah's Baby

The baby growing in my belly is Norah's, or at least that is what she will tell you. She sings about her baby off and on all day long. She talks to "her sissy," in a very confident and firm voice that borders on yelling; I think she wants to be sure that her sissy hears her.

My favorite moments are when Norah cuddles up to my belly to just hug and whisper to sissy OR to show the baby her latest (and last) sonogram photos. Norah tells me over and over again that she knows that her sissy cannot see the photos but she likes pretending she can. It will be fun to watch their relationship blossom once Norah's little sissy is out and about in a few short weeks. Norah is definitely ready, and I think her little sister must be too because the kicks in response to Norah's voice feel like love to me.

The kids tagged along to our sonogram appointment yesterday. They were so excited to see the baby move around on the computer monitor. Norah said, "I love this movie" over and over again. Kai was so excited he could barely sit still. The warm gel on my belly seemed to fascinate him the most. He couldn't quite grasp why it was needed or how I was going to get it all wiped off. He even asked me about it later in the evening and again this morning.

Here a few of Norah's favorite snaps of the baby. She currently has them in her old baby crinkly photo album and is sleeping with them and taking them everywhere she goes.

One of the coolest things is that judging from Norah's first photos after she was born, her little sister is going to look just like her -- chubby cheeks, tiny chin and adorable squashed nose. The question remains whether she will have red hair. Norah says a definitive YES. After all, her baby is a girl. And all the girls in her house have red hair.
