Valentine's Day 2011

One of the things that I still remember from my very first Valentine's Day in Kindergarten is that one of the boys in my class made homemade Valentines to pass out. I loved it. I wished that I had done it. So, for Kai's first Valentine's Day at school, we all worked together as a family to make Valentines for Kai's class. We all had so much fun doing it. Luckily, we did it in stages, which made the whole process a lot easier.

I conferred with my crafty friend, Kate, and the Internet to find out how to make crayons out of the bits and pieces of crayons that we all end up with in our art supplies. The best link that I found was called crayon-nibbles.

Kit, Kai and Norah worked together to unwrap, peel and break the crayons so that they could fit into the candy mold. I love that Kit sticks his tongue out like Norah does most of the time when she's working on something.

Norah gets the crayons ready to go into the oven.

Hearts carved into the tops of the crayons by Kit make them all the more festive.

Kai gets the crayons ready to go into their bags for his classmates.

Adorable Kindergarten handwriting...

I hope someday that someone remembers that my little guy made Valentines for his classmates...just like I always have.
