Our 7 Week Kitchen Remodel

I can hardly believe that I haven't posted anything since March. I started this blog as a writing outlet. In my defense, we had the kitchen remodeled shortly after my last post. On March 31st (which was a nice and warm March day), our boiler was turned off and drained in order to remove two radiators.

Well, the boiler NEVER went back on despite the weather snapping back to near the 30 degree mark. We donned coats and snuggled under blankets and tried to keep our eyes on the prize; this worked most of the time. We ate a lot of take-out food, which we weren't originally going to do; we had a large toaster oven and a two burner hotplate after all. However, the freezing temperatures made us edgy so the cooking rarely happened.

During the tear-out, we learned that our house's original kitchen had hip tile, teal walls with red behind the cupboards as an accent color. We could also see the outline of the original cookstove near the chimney that is now buried under plaster. It was a cool excavation! I felt I really got to know our house even better.

I've attached some photos of the kitchen before, what the original kitchen looked like when the house was built in 1911 and what it looks like now. We LOVE cooking and even hanging out in our new kitchen.

Also, our contractor and everyone who worked on the kitchen were simply the best! If you would like their contact information, let us know.

Here's to many a splendid meal being cooked and shared with family & friends for years to come!!!
